A Mini Review:

We’re not huge fans of the newest issue of Knitty.  As curvy/shorter ladies, we think that none of the sweater patterns in this lineup are good for women with our body types.  While we like most of the accessories, the sweaters leave a lot to be desired (in our very humble opinion!).

If I Was A Rich Girl:

Brittany: Knitters Book of Wool

Dana: Kromski 16″ Fiddle Loom, Three Irish Girls Adorn Sock in Bryn and Madigan

Discussion: How We Knit

We talk about our different knitting techniques.  Brittany is a lever knitter (to see a video of Brittany knitting, go here).  Dana taught herself how to knit, so her style is a bit difficult to describe (we will try to upload a video later!).  (Dana mentions Addi Turbo needles)  Dana took a continental knitting class from Galina Khmeleva at SAFF in October 2010, and enjoyed it- but really hasn’t used the technique since.  We discuss colorwork techniques (one-handed versus two-handed).  We get Startitis (the desire to start a bunch of new knitting projects at once) at different times of the year- Brittany gets it right at the end of spring/beginning of summer and Dana gets it right after Christmas.  Dana discusses overcommitment issues when it comes to gift-giving and being a more selfish knitter (there’s nothing wrong with that!).  We would love to hear about how YOU knit- please comment on our Ravelry group Episode 5 thread, and tell us about your techniques!!

Upcoming Events:

Smoky Mountain Fiber Arts Festival– March 17-19 in Townsend TN (adjacent to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park)- we will be going on March 19.

Middle TN Fiber Arts Festival- May 27-28 in Dixon TN- we will be going on May 28. (the website is currently down, so we will try to link it later- sorry!)

Thank you for listening, and we hope to hear from you soon!     -Brittany & Dana
