Episode 55: Just One More Stripe!

February 16, 2013 at 2:55 am 4 comments

Thank you for joining us for Episode 55 of Just One More Row! This episode is brought to you by Cakewalk Yarns.

Cakewalk Yarns look different for a reason! We wanted a beautiful skein (for The Collection) that wouldn’t disappoint when knit up. So, we developed a unique dyeing process to achieve our signature speckled yarns.

Don’t overthink it, just add knitting! The result is a truly beautiful piece; flecked with random color that’s a joy to wear!

During February, Just One More Row listeners receive a 10% discount using the coupon code mentioned in the episode at checkout. You’ll find Cakewalk Yarns on Etsy.com

Discussion/Review: The Spinner’s Book of Yarn Designs: Techniques for Creating 80 Yarns by Sarah Anderson (~$18.15 on Amazon)
– love that the yarn samples are all white. It really helps me see the detail better.
– love that the book was written in a conversational tone- not preachy, very approachable.
– I will refer to this book again and again! It will go on my bookshelf right next to The Fleece & Fiber Sourcebook.
– Really inspiring. Makes me want to spin and try new things.
– Love the quick reference cards that are included.
– Pictures are clear and in color.
– Love the “sock experiment” where she experiments with the durability of different ply structures.
– Basically, everyone is raving about this book for a reason!!

Cakewalk Yarns Contest: Just One More Season Contest
The Bluths are coming back! Thankfully, my favorite canceled show Arrested Development is making a comeback with a highly anticipated 4th season this spring!! We at Cakewalk Yarns have had faith all along. In fact, we are the home of 16 Arrested Development colorways (and counting). The wait is killing me, so I will pass the time re-watching Seasons 1-3, dyeing up yarns & amusing myself with colorway names (OK yes – the names have nothing to do with the actual colorways – who says you have to be literal?)
How about you? Is there a canceled TV show you wish would come back for Just One More Season? Or are you like Lucille Bluth (“I don’t understand the question & I refuse to respond”)?
Brittany: agree with Firefly! Buffy & The IT Crowd.
To enter to win, please leave a message with your response in the episode 55 contest thread in the Ravelry group. You must be a member of the group to win, blog responses will not count as entries, and no chatter in the contest thread please! You can chatter all you want in the main episode thread. 🙂

The prize: a skein of Cakewalk Yarns Big Deal in "Hey Brother"

I would love to see more episodes of Wired on HBO. I worry about those kids and wish life could improve for them

    Dana & Brittany,
Thanks so much for a great book review! I had a big grin on my face as I listened. After all the time spent in the pre-dawn hours hunched on the couch with a laptop trying to write, it’s so nice to hear that people are getting good things from the book.
    Thanks again,
    Sarah Anderson
